Embolectomy catheters – simple lumen

Embolectomy or occlusion catheters consist of a polyamide catheter and a bonded, ligated balloon. On the proximal part, a female Luer lock tip and wings help to connect with the syringe. The catheters are marked every 10 cm (except for the 2Fr catheters, which have an additional intermediate marking from 15 cm). A stainless steel mandrel is supplied with the device. The size and inflation capacity of the balloon are printed on the proximal end. The balloon is inflated with CO2 for 2Fr catheters and with sterile physiological fluid for 3Fr catheters and above, in order to avoid the risk of gas embolism in case of unpredictable balloon rupture. Embolectomy and occlusion catheters are identical. The only difference is the shape of the balloon. Indeed, the balloon of an embolectomy catheter is cylindrical in shape. The balloon of the occlusion catheter is star-shaped to take the shape of the inside of the vessel wall, thus achieving a temporary occlusion with a minimum of damage to the vessel wall.
For dual-lumen catheters: a Y-connector is used to connect a secondary tube to the main catheter.
The main line of the catheter is dedicated to the passage of the mandrel and the annex line to the inflation of the balloon.

Codes 70040xx and code 7004105 are balloon catheters for arterial embolectomy.
Codes 70057xx are double lumen balloon catheters for arterial embolectomy.
