Guedel airways are plastic, tubular oropharyngeal airway adjuncts designed to maintain an unobstructed airway by preventing the tongue from covering the epiglottis in unconscious or anesthetized patients. They feature a hard bite block to prevent airway occlusion, rounded edges to minimize trauma, and are color-coded for size identification

- Material: Made from non-toxic, non-irritant, semi-rigid polyethylene (PE) polymer.
- Structure: Comprises a hollow, curved tube that conforms to the oropharyngeal anatomy, with a “stepless” path that allows for suction catheter insertion.
- Bite Block: An integral, firmer plastic piece at the proximal end prevents the patient from biting down and obstructing the tube or injuring the tongue.
- Sizing: Color-coded for rapid identification, with sizes typically ranging from 000 (smallest/neonatal) to 5 or 6 (largest/adult).
